Why I became a Midwife
The time I knew I was called to be a midwife was when I was given the privilege of being present at my sister-in-laws birth at a birthing center. Having had my baby the year previously by cesarean section left me feeling somewhat disconnected from what birth should have been and I didn't know about midwives. As my beautiful niece was crowning, I felt a warmth spread from the crown on my own head, as if the hand of God were being placed there, down my spine and to my toes. I knew that I was being told "you are a midwife, learn what you need to know to help other women". That moment was the birth of a new sister in Midwifery... and only a matter of time until I became.
